  1. Grace gives us the wisdom and understanding which the Law can’t.

The law in its most basic sense is simply information: what’s right to do, and what’s wrong to do. The problem with the law is not found in the information it provides, but in the mindset that all we need is information in order to do what is right. “Just give me the info and I’ll do it.” - yet this is the very thing that causes us to fail. Information, standing alone, is completely useless to us in doing what is right and bringing about any kind of long-term positive change.

It is only in the letting go of the belief (and obsession) in information as our guide in life that we can fully embrace the love and grace of God, the mystery of Christ in us, as our guide.

It is God’s grace that in turn empowers us to live a life of love, a life that follows in the footsteps of love. It is God’s love that is competent to lead us to a place of strength in him.

The law (information), by contrast, tells us what we should do, it usually makes sense, it seems easy, we agree, we get pumped up —- and then we fail to do it.

The only thing that will ever empower us for the long run is the grace of God. This is why the Apostle Paul declares that “We are not under law, but under grace:” However, either we allow God’s grace to embrace us fully, or we attempt to embrace the law in its varying forms: the rules, the principles, the six steps to better living, the written code in the bible and the self help books, which is similar to trying to embrace the wind. In other words, futile.

God’s grace is alive and active within us. While law is readable and easy to grasp, grace is a mystery we cannot grasp. However, and this is really the most beautiful part, we can let it embrace us. We can rest knowing that although we can’t control God’s grace, although it will always remain a mysterious working within us, we can trust that it will keep our lives in control. We can live by grace alone for grace is God himself, living and active in us; while information will fail us time and time again, the grace of God will hold us in Christ’s success from here to eternity.

  3. A Recipe for Relationships

    Micca Monda Campbell

“… he loved him as he loved himself.” 1 Samuel 20:17b (NIV)

My mother use to tell me to count myself lucky if I had just one “close friend.”  That’s because close life-long relationships are hard to come by. So many people today are looking for meaningful relationships, yet so few actually find them. We are becoming an increasingly private society, and it seems fewer people than ever have life-long intimate friendships. Still, the desire for this kind of relationship is not only sought after, but necessary.

Women are naturally drawn to other women. In fact, a girl’s first experience with heartache may have been over a lost “best friend” rather than a “boy friend.” Women value friendships. When they are lost, we grieve; not just over the friendship itself, but also for the secrets shared, the trust given and the acceptance enjoyed. If betrayed, the pain runs deep causing us to wonder if intimate friendships are really possible.

When I think of a biblical example of real friendship, the story of David and Jonathan, found in 1 Samuel 19, always comes to mind. Jonathan, son of King Saul, was David’s closest friend. But his father, the king, despised David because he was growing in popularity and because God had anointed David to be king. These facts enraged King Saul, so much that he commanded his aids and Jonathan to assassinate David. But Jonathan loved David, therefore betrayal was impossible. Love isn’t the only fruit of true friendship. A real relationship consists of sacrifice too. Jonathan stripped himself of the robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his armor, his sword, his bow, and his belt. Jonathan was the potential heir to his father’s throne, but we see him sacrificing his future for his best friend as he literally gave David his place as king. You and I can learn from this action that true friendship means a willingness to sacrifice for each other in love. It’s the ability to put another’s needs, desires, and wishes above our own. Loyalty is also a mark of true friendship.

We’re told that Jonathan went to his father and spoke well of David. Jonathan also stood up to his dad and essentially said, “Dad, you’re wrong about David. He hasn’t done any wrong to you; in fact, everything he’s done has helped you.” A true friend is a loyal defense before others, one who won’t talk about you when you’re not around. True friends stick up for each other. Finally, intimate friends give each other complete freedom to be themselves. In an intimate friendship, you don’t have to explain why you do what you do. You’re just free to do it.

When Jonathan gave David the news that things were troubled in the palace and that his dad was going to kill him, the two were forced to say goodbye. The text tells us that they wept together. When your heart is broken, you can bleed all over a friend like this and she’ll understand. She won’t try to dismiss your misery or tell you to straighten up. Intimate friends let each other hurt and they weep together. If your friend needs to talk it through, you will listen. Intimate friends don’t bale; they stay. They allow you to be yourself no matter what “self” looks like in that moment. If you’re looking for a godly recipe for relationships, look no further. Mix together love, sacrifice, loyalty, and freedom and you can create an intimate friendship that lasts a lifetime.

Dear Lord, help me to be a friend like Jonathan. Then, bless me with the same. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Jesus demostrated the highest standard of unconditional love and friendship; He gave His life away in exchange for our freedom. Jonathan stripped himself bare of all his prized possessions and gave them to David. It ain’t no relationship, until you are ready to give yourself away, to put the needs of others before yours, to inconvinent yourself. Intimate relationships are never convinent, most of times, you either have to adapt or go the extra mile for the other person. That’s why all the more, we need the grace of God to help us, to support and supply us with the love and strength to do so, with the patience and understanding to see the best in the other person. Relationships require lots of grace, grace upon grace, never ending supply of grace to sustain the intimacy and understanding. God help us all, to love more like You, to lay down our lives for our intimate relationships like Jesus did, we look to You Father, as the example and testimony of Love, how to love and be loved, how to give and receive from others. Thank You Jesus.

  4. Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever]

  5. The cause of social woes can never been fully understood nor be rectified, unless the wisdom of God is applied, because we are created as vessels of His Spirit, and the refusal of that truth will keep the world on an endless tail chase.
The cure for every worldly woes, is already provided for in the grace of God. Yet the world still denies, impending alienation from God in their minds.
The worldly philosophies can only deal with the empirical sympthoms of our brokennesss, but not its root. Secular knowledge is exhaustible and limited, after all what does Man really know, compared to the all-knowing God?
What a loss, it is, to not know the unconditional goodness of God and His redemption work, because the truth of Jesus’s finished work entails everything that we need in life and also the solution to the root of our problems; which is sin and condemnation. His grace gives us domion over sin and His righteousness invalids condemnation. Our reconcilation with God through the acceptance of His gift of grace and righteousness; we also receive His Spirit as the life we live and the mind that renews our perspective of reality; Christ becomes our reality, and the world is the deviant alternative.

  8. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ — 2 Corin 10:3-5

Spiritual warfare is any stronghold imposed on our mind that exalts itself against the knowledge of God..meaning to use human reasoning and understanding (oh the futility of our minds) to define the scriptures rather than scriptures to define man’s reasoning and understanding. Allow the knowledge (first-hand experiential intimacy) of God to renew your understanding..Let His Spirit breathe His life and Grace into your mind and soul. Trust in His Spirit to bring you answers of peace which will never contradict the Word but confirmed in the Word. Let His Spirit reassure you with His Peace for the Spirit of the Word gives life..Incline your ears to His understanding of you  instead of relying on your self-understanding.

Also, do watch out for any other false gospels preached that discounts the sacrifical obedience of Christ for our sake. That is the true gospel, that is the proof of God’s Love for us and the definition of His Love.

  9. When we trust in our own understanding, we are sowing the corrupted seeds of our flesh that can only reap perishable fruits

but when we rely on the Holy Spirit of His understanding, we are sowing His Kingdom seeds that will bring unceasing fruitfulness! Fruits that will abide forever!

    Spirit over body and soul!

And the Word of God is the discerner between the understanding of our Soul and Spirit! Always fall back onto His Holy Spirit and the Word which is His sword!

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. — John 14:26

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; — Eph 6:17

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. - -Heb 4:12

For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. — Romans 8:6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
    And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths — Provb 3:5-6

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. — John 6:63

For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. — Gal 6:8

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit. — Provb 18:21

  11. The word itself is not the problem; it’s the way you’re trying to
interpret it that is causing you pain.

Sam let loose with a long drawn out moan, protesting, “What else can I

God’s response was unexpected, “Don’t seek to understand this word
with your logical mind. Simply look for me in it.

  13. We are God’s children and we require His guidance.

His ways are always higher than our ways and to know His ways is to understand His Word.

    Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Because the Word of God is able to discern which is the decision of the soul (mind and emotions) and which is according to the Spirit.

While God is not saying you can’t think for yourself but what He is saying through His Word is that He loves you more than you can ever love yourself so the guidance of His Spirit and Truth is always for our best interests, for the best results to be enjoyed.

Faith is not found in the wisdom of Man (self-reliance) but in the Power of God (Spirit-reliance) To get the God-kind of results is to invest in the God-kind of seed which is His Word and promises.

So the key to submitting our decisions to the Lord is to get Him involved in your decision-making, discern through His Word and Spiritfor specific revelations to apply in your specific situations and to rest in His reassurance that He will perform on your behalf.

To rely on your own understanding is to rely on self-performance but to rely on His understanding is to trust in His performance.

Just remember this that the Word of God is given not to limit us but help to maximize the best out of our abundant life in Christ :)

  14. The best way to love people is to love out of the knowledge, identity and supply of how loved you are by God. Loving others shouldn’t be out of religious self-imposed works just to get right with someone or with God, but it should be a fruit of God’s Spirit because you are hidden in His love and filled abundantly with the Life of His Love.

Loving others should not be a bondage but a liberty - freely given and receive exchange. And the credit of your love should not be on yourself but the One who made it possible, give Him all the glory by allowing Him to supply it all to you.

We stay commited not because of a legalistic bond but because of the Grace that we have to remain lovingly devoted. Relying on marital regulations to remain commited only stirs up the flesh, but commitment under the reliance on Grace, you operate by Grace upon Grace, you can love forever. Loving and serving others should be done out of your rest in His Love and Grace. That way, you will never have to be burnt out by loving others or to love out of obligation.
