“Why not? The potential for a true masterpiece is within you.”
“Well, you’re certainly optimistic. Forgive me though for being a little
sceptical. After all, I don’t have much to show for my ‘art’ right now.”
He took a napkin and wiped away the last of the coffee lingering
around the corners of his lips. He continued, “I wouldn’t worry about that.
Every piece of art starts as an empty canvas, a lump of clay, or a mixture of
fabrics and colours. It’s all raw, stripped down, and anything but a delight
to the eyes. Much like life, isn’t it? You start off with not much to show for
yourself. You only have the basic raw materials – breath in your lungs and
a body that moves. It may seem like very little, but it’s just like an artist’s
raw materials. The material you need to make art is only the beginning. It is
what is inside of you that will create the art. It is what is inside of you that
will make the raw materials into something spectacular. You have an idea
in your mind. You have a desire in your heart. You have a dream in your
soul. You’re an artist, and I have a feeling the masterpiece is coming,” he
said with confidence.
